Empowerment Justice Center (EJC)
EJC is a Community organization that builds coalitions which brings critical social justice issues to the attention of stakeholders, authorities while providing mental health, housing, homelessness resolutions, social services, HIV/AIDS services, education, pastoral care, identity development, advocacy and training on how to mobilize, organize and protect against racism, violence of any kind to the marginalized people of color, LGBTQ and those impacted by the root of historically oppressive structures. EJC and ELC empowers LGBTQ individuals and others impacted by marginalization and disenfranchisement.
Empowerment Justice Center historically has been additionally concerned about the mental wellness of women and their spiritual wellbeing. EJC has intentionally established programming for women clergy to ensure their ability to thrive in their ministerial context. EJC understands the weight of clergy, especially women clergy, since our founder is a clergy woman of color. Clergy women of color have historically been oppressed, depressed, and overlooked by institutions and religious structures simply because of gender. We offer supportive groups, educational events, and training for women who are God's servants to the church.
Empowerment Justice Center was birthed from the Social Justice Ministry of Empowerment Liberation Cathedral as a 501c3 organization. EJC is proud to continue advocating for justice in the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland. EJC will continue to work with women across the country, especially clergy, who seek mental wellness and affirmation.
